WCMA members benefit from the exchange of ideas and information, from enhanced educational opportunities and resources, and from the development of professional relationships with managers with similar interests, challenges, and responsibilities. WCMA enjoys a long standing and close working relationship with the Association of Washington Cities and several other local government professional associations with an exemplary track record of combined efforts to improve the knowledge, quality and efficiency of municipal management.

TYPE OF MEMBERSHIP
Full Member - Any person who is the administrative head of a municipality, county, or governmental agency with minicipal, county, or regional interest, and is appointed by its Mayor, County Executive, or Legislative body. Also included are administrative assistants, assistant city and county managers, assistant administrators, assistant directors of councils of governments, and other persons who hold similar positions.
Associate Member - Any person pursuing the field of city or county administration but who does not qualify as a Full Member. Example: Adminstrative Assistant to the Public Works Director, etc.
Affiliate Member - Any person who has served in a municipal or county management position and has the endorsement of a Corporate Member or any person who has attained a position in his/her special pursuit qualifying him/her to cooperate with city/county administrators in the advancement of professional knowledge and practice.
Honorary Member - Any person who has made a distinct contribution to the advancement of the art and science of public administration and is desrving of special recognition. Such designation is subject to the approval of the Executive Board.
Honorary Life Member - Any former Full Member who has retired from active, full-time, permanent employment, shall be eligible for Honorary Life membership. Eligibility is further dependent upon a minimum of 20 years employment as a Full Member, or its equivalent in this and/or other states, with a minimum of 10 years of such service in the State of Washington. Such designation is subject to action and approval of the Executive Board, who may also take into consideration the offices of WCMA and ICMA held during active service.
Members in Transition - Any Full Member of this association who has resigned or has been removed from their position with a municipality may retain their status as a Full Member for up to 90 days provided they continue to pay dues. Thereafter, membership in WCMA may be continued under another appropriate category.
Retired Member - Any Full Member who has retired from active, full-time, permanent employment, shall be eligible for Retired Membership. Eligibility is further dependent upon a minimum of 5 years employment as a Full Member, such service having been in the State of Washington. Such designation is subject to action and approval of the Executive Board.
Student Member - Any student who is pursuing studies leading to a career in local government administration. A student member shall pay dues as established by the Executive Board.
