WCMA Strategic Plan, Goals & Priorities
Subscribe to the Highest Standards of Ethical & Professional Conduct:
- Adopted a Code of Ethics Policy for all WCMA members.
- Maintain an Ethics Committee to review alleged ethics violations.
- Regularly feature ICMA Code of Ethics issues in WCMA newsletter.
- Periodically schedule ICMA Code of Ethics workshops and training programs.
Support WCMA Membership:
- Continue to improve member networking opportunities by encouraging small regional groups to provide support, mentoring, training, and encouragement.
- Establish a program for new Washington managers to help with their transition and to better acquaint them with WCMA and the state of Washington.
- Provide service recognition and awards program for WCMA members.
- Establish a Municipal Internship Network with state colleges and universities.
- Strengthen WCMA involvement in the AWC legislative and resolution process.
- Develop a "members in transition" packet and checklist.
- Expand WCMA membership by encouraging participation of assistants.
Provide Professional Development Opportunities:
- Offer quality conferences with top presenters and informative meetings with well-facilitated discussions.
- Integrate ICMA's 16 critical leadership skills into conferences, programs and the newsletter.
- Promote local government management careers by strengthening the relationship with the Daniel J. Evans Graduate School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington and other similar institutions.
- Seek ways to advocate, encourage, and foster broad-based community respect for political institutions and public service.
Develop a Capability of Providing Assistance to Communities Interested in the Council/Manager Plan:
- Organizationally support the ICMA Endowment Fund.
- Develop an inventory of educational documents, materials, and
other information describing the Council/Manager Plan, including
capacity to help communities that inquire about or solicit assistance
in evaluating the Council/Manager governance model.
